The Discord of Florence

This report concerns itself with the space of 16th century Florence. Why Florence?, one may query. And what of its space?

The city offers a backdrop for an event to occur, and a scenario to be set. It also gives the author, and the reader, a useful grasp of reality, when the language of space takes command of this work and confuses one's taste for clarity. However, a backdrop it remains.

To begin, the language of space being examined is that of Nicollo Machiavelli's 'The Prince' and the mechanisms under which it was manifested. By attempting to understand this text, the foothold needed to grasp a sense of spatial reality within Machiavelli's abstract world is provided.
